Finding Solid Group Groups
Golden Oak’s FSG Group will be ending Mid-December. Aimee will join other researchers at the March 2024 Annual ISSTD Conference in Boston to present our initial findings. We hope to have the articles ready for Journal reviews for publishing in Summer 2025.
We want to thank every participant and therapist who have referred and followed along with group members as we explored FSG’s effectiveness with people with PTSD+ dissociative symptoms and disorders.
This has been groundbreaking research because this is the first study seeking to determine evidenced based treatment for dissociative disorders in a group format.
Future FSG Groups through Golden Oak (TBD)
The intention of FSG is to focus on Stage I Trauma Treatment goals of teaching patients how to remain in their Window of Tolerance enabling them to move forward along with their primary therapist who may be providing memory reprocessing once they are able to tolerate it. As group leaders, we provide safety during sessions by limiting processing of traumatic memory.
The materials presented can be found in the FSG Workbook. Previous studies have demonstrated successful outcomes. Primary therapists will be encouraged to read both FSG books, but patients will be expected to communicate to the referring provider what they’ve learned in the groups.
Banyan Mental Health
Aimee (CEO/Founder) and Banyan Board Members intend to create higher levels of care (initially, Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs) for those experiencing symptoms of complex, attachment, and relational traumas, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, Organized Extreme Abuse, Perinatal Trauma and other conditions which involve chronic suicide ideation and non-suicidal self-injury.
Services will reflect the most recent research and discussions with international colleagues in trauma treatment from a “trauma treatment informed” lens. Aimee hopes to reduce reliance on general mental health inpatient admissions by providing alternatives that address the reality of insurance reimbursements which do not allow patients/clients time to integrate learning that their mental health symptoms reflect their answer to the appropriate question, “What has happened to you?” not the common question, “What is wrong with you?”
